Some things never change. The sun rises in the east. The tax bill always comes due. Mothers give good hugs. And Tree Streets residents are hard-pressed each Halloween to have enough candy on hand for the hordes of trick-or-treaters who descend on the neighborhood. It was no different Monday night. Outside one Maple Street home, more than 400 “fun size” candies lasted all of about 30 minutes as a range of characters – some frightening, some adorable, some comical and some inexplicable – stopped for treats. “Thank yous” were sufficiently plentiful to bring a smile to even the most curmudgeonly façade, and when Tuesday morning came, the sidewalks looked none the worse for wear in the way of littered wrappers.
