Science Hill opened up conference play last Friday night with a sweep of the rival Indians of Dobyns-Bennett. The boys put the clamps on Dobyns-Bennett in the second half to secure a 50-41 win while the girls held on for a 55-51 victory over the Lady Indians.
Tate Wheeler led the way for the ‘Toppers with 10 points. After trailing 34-29 at the half, Science Hill (5-2) held D-B (4-4) to seven points in the second half to move to 1-0 in league play. Jerriah Love added seven points and six assists for the ‘Toppers.
In the girls’ contest, Alasia Smith hit a layup in the final seconds to secure a dramatic victory for the Lady Hilltoppers. Smith finished with 23 points to help Science Hill (7-0) remain unbeaten. Aliyanna Hill finished with 10 points and made a steal that set up Smith’s game-clinching layup. Science Hill’s Jelia Greenlee finished with 10 points as well.
