Science Hill is excited to announce it has 10 National Merit Semifinalists for 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Those students include Daniel Feng, son of Minxia Lu and Wenlai Feng; Saanvi Goenka, daughter of Seema and Puneet Goenka; Kathryn Hamlin, daughter of Jennifer and Michael; Greta Higginbotham, daughter of Leah and Scott Higginbotham; Helen Hoye, daughter of Cheryl and Donald Hoye; Karissa Korman, daughter of Mary Bolinger and Bruce Korman; Christine Liang, daughter of Wei Fu and Beichen Liang; Rose O’Leary, daughter of Catherine and Roland O’Leary; Franklin Pezzuti Dyer, son of Rose Pezzuti Dyer and George Dyer; and Sunshine Wheeler, daughter of Yurong and Guy Wheeler.
“We are exceptionally proud of the students who have earned this prestigious recognition and the opportunity to advance in the National Merit Scholarship competition,” Science Hill Principal Todd Barnett said. “The fact that ten of our students have earned this opportunity speaks to their academic ability, perseverance and willingness to compete with the best and brightest students nationally. Additionally, the accomplishments of these students reflect the expectations and ability of the teachers at Science Hill to prepare our students to compete at an exceptionally high level.”
Over 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
