One of the Jonesborough Police Department’s newest officers was recently recognized by Jonesborough Mayor Chuck Vest for his outstanding performance in the East Tennessee Regional Law Enforcement Academy.

Officer Benjamin Zeigler was honored with two awards following his completion of the Regional Law Enforcement Academy, the Academic Award and the Leadership Award. Zeigler has been with the Jonesborough Police Department since March after servicing with the United States Marine Corps for just over 14 years.

“I’m thankful our public safety leaders Chief Ron Street and Director Craig Ford have such high standards and sound judgment,” Vest said.

The East Tennessee Regional Law Enforcement Academy trains qualified personnel in basic law enforcement procedures. The academy is held at Walters State Community College.
