A group of 16 people from Johnson City were among the masses that traveled to Washington D.C. for the inauguration of the United States 45th President Donald Trump last Friday, Jan. 20.

Wanda May and her friends left on Wednesday for the trip, more friends followed the next day in preparation for the event.

“This opportunity seldom comes along in a lifetime, ” May said.

This made her fourth trip to an inauguration. She attended the inaugurations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, but she mentioned a gleeful feeling unlike the previous trips.

“To be on the scene during that historical event was totally amazing,” May said. “To actually get to sit there and witness and thinking about all the history that has gone on before it…it actually brought tears to my eyes.”
