Last Saturday morning, the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other volunteers – led by bagpipers from Jericho Shrine Highlanders Pipe and Drum Corps – marched across the VA Medical Center campus to the cemetery.

Following a short ceremony including military honors and Taps, volunteers walked quietly through the cemetery placing flags. Volunteers were asked to stop at each gravesite, read the name of the person(s) buried, offer a salute and appreciate the sacrifices made by each Veteran.

When each name was read, every Veteran was recognized. Therefore, no Veteran buried at Mountain Home National Cemetery will be forgotten. It was a small tribute for the honor and bravery shown to our country when the Veteran served our great nation.

Saturday’s event set the stage for Monday’s Memorial Day program at the cemetery. Sabrina Clark, Director of Voluntary Services for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC was the keynote speaker.
