Science Hill High School boasts an array of impressive alumni who have achieved lofty goals, and count Jordan Hamilton as yet another.

A member of the Class of 2005, Hamilton has seen success in the entertainment industry since his graduation.

“I always enjoyed going to the movies and the idea of being part of a larger project,” he explained to the News & Neighbor on Jan. 6. “Being in the Science Hill marching band showed me what could happen when a group of people worked hard together. We were in parades in Hawaii and Hollywood. It showed me that working hard took you places.”

Hamilton’s work as a costume designer on the show “Portlandia” earned him a Grammy nomination in 2017.

Hamilton was nominated for an Emmy award in 2017 for his role as a costume designer with the popular television series, “Portlandia.” While the show did not capture that particular honor, Hamilton enjoyed a memorable night at the Emmys.

Hamilton has since focused on styling and costumes, working with entities include The CW, Adidas, Hulu, IFC, Microsoft, Netflix, Warner Brothers, Broadway Video, and more.

He now splits living time between Portland, Oregon, and Los Angeles. Outside of work, he enjoys swimming in lakes on Mount Hood, visiting flea markets in Pasadena, and says he is “always on the search for the best Taco Truck.”

The costume design supervisor also has worked as a production coordinator for Gatorade, Intel and Nike, among others.

Currently, Hamilton is wrapping up Season 3 of “I Think You Should Leave,” which streams on Netflix.

He and his fellow crew members will be recognized later this month at the famous 10-day Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, for the 2021 film “Sometimes I Think about Dying.”

“I’m excited for the Sundance Film Festival and reuniting with the cast and crew of ‘Sometimes I Think About Dying,’” Hamilton said. “My goals for the future are to keep growing as a designer and working on projects with intent and good people.”
