On April 23, some local third-grade Cub Scout boys from Den 22, Pack 35 of Johnson City worked on a community service project to help out the Park Service.

The boys picked up trash, raked up leaves, swept picnic tables, moved brush, and tidied up areas around the Limestone Cove Recreational area. In doing this project, the boys completed their final requirements for the 2018-2019 Bear Scouts. Of course, after a hard day’s work, the boys were able to enjoy some of Unicoi
County’s beauty by playing in the creek.

The boys in Den 22, Pack 35 are from Fairmont Elementary and Lake Ridge Elementary. The group is part of the Buffalo Mountain District of the Sequoyah Council and completed the project with the approval of the Cherokee National Forest Department.

Johnathan Eldred, Callum Blackburn, Alystaire Higgins, Cole Watson, Coleman Boyd, Sawyer Franklin, Jacob Walser, Owen Chandley, Ethan Nave and Mason Woodby are in the Den, which is led by Cindy Odom-Higgins and Robby Franklin.
