Records were set at the 2017 Johnson City Turkey Trot as 4,223 runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes participated in the annual event. As always, the Johnson City Up & At ‘Em Turkey Trot Committee put on a great show along with help from many community partners.
Volunteers gathered in the chilly early morning hours preparing for the onslaught of pre-turkey consumers anxious to burn calories before the big feed later that day. The committee sent out a special thank you to numerous helpers including the City of Johnson City and employees, Washington County Rescue Services, Johnson City Parks and Recreation Dept., Johnson City Police Dept. as well as numerous other groups.
This year’s overall race winners were, male; Jordan Chancy, Johnson City and female, Stephanie Place, Bristol, VA. Athletes came from 17 different states and five foreign countries.
