Update: The Bucs season ends as Middleton defeats University High, 66-50, in the Class 1A semi-finals.

Excitement was in the air at University School last Friday as members of the boys’ basketball team walked the halls and got a hero’s sendoff as they prepared to compete in this week’s TSSAA Class A State Tournament.

Fresh off a 71-52 victory over Greenback in the state sectional, members of the team walked through the hallways of their school receiving high-fives from their schoolmates and basking in cheers. The team, which is coached by Herman Rice, is preparing to make its eighth trip to the state tournament in school history. The Junior Bucs square off against McKenzie High School tonight (Wednesday, March 15).
