Liberty Bell girls bring home third straight state title

The Liberty Bell girls’ cross country team captured its third straight state championship last Saturday on the campus of Austin Peay State University. Hannah Dawson, Morgan Mahoney, Emma Rhea, Ansley Reed, Micah Lane, Arwyn Teal and Jayla Lexi Green ran for Liberty Bell, which is coached by Nancy McDonald.

The Liberty Bell girls’ cross country team won its third consecutive TMSAA Class AA state championship last Saturday in Clarksville.

The Lady Patriots edged out runner-up T.W. Hunter by two points. Hannah Dawson traversed the two-mile course in 13:02.63 to pace Liberty Bell with a seventh-place finish. Her teammate Morgan Mahoney (13:09.27) finished 12th while Emma Rhea (21st), Ansley Reed (26th) and Micah Lane (35th) helped the Lady Patriots amass just enough points to secure the win.

Arwyn Teal (64th) and Jayla Lexi Green (66th) also competed for Liberty Bell, which is coached by Nancy McDonald. On the boys side, Owen Johnson was Liberty Bell’s top finisher. Johnson ran the course in a time of 12:12.33, good enough for a 25th-place finish.
