Hutchins impressive again in Georgia meet

It was a foggy morning in Fairburn, Georgia, on Saturday, but that didn’t seem to bother Jenna Hutchins too much.

The Science Hill junior cut through the fog to secure her third cross country victory in as many starts, besting a star-studded field of girls at the Asics Invitational. Hutchins posted a time of 16:40 on the 5K course, giving her three consecutive sub-17-minute times so far this fall.

In other action, Daniel Boone’s football team had little trouble shutting down Morristown East last Friday night, but the Hurricanes had no answer for Boone’s Brennan Blair. Blair ran for over 250 yards and scored five touchdowns – one receiving, four rushing – in Boone’s 35-13 victory over Morristown East.

It was the same score and a similar story over in Johnson City as the Hilltoppers offense couldn’t get much going in a 35-13 loss to Farragut.

Farragut jumped out to a 14-0 lead after some early Science Hill miscues and put the game away with a pair of quick scores midway through the second half. Jaxon Diamond accounted for two touchdowns, but the Science Hill signal caller was held under 200 yards passing on the night.
