David Crockett’s first-place boys’ team came into Science Hill’s gym Friday night and wrapped up the Big Seven Conference championship by defeating the second-place Toppers in the nightcap of a boys-girls doubleheader.
The Pioneers were led by senior point guard and Appalachian State signee Patrick Good’s 32 points in a 68-52 win.
The closest the Toppers could get after halftime was a four-point deficit late in the third quarter, after which Crockett pulled away to improve to 10-0 in the conference, 22-3 overall. Science Hill is 8-3, 17-9 overall.
In the girls game, Science Hill easily dispatched Crockett in the second half to improve to 5-6, 15-11 overall. Crockett is 0-10, 5-22 overall.
