The ETSU men’s basketball team announced on Monday that it has paused all activities within its program following a positive COVID-19 test.

Wednesday’s home game against VMI and Saturday’s road game at Wofford have been postponed. Details as to when the Bucs can return to activity will be announced at a later date.

The shutdown came on the heels of a huge Southern Conference road win last Saturday. The Bucs picked up a hard-earned 71-61 victory over UNC-Greensboro to move to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in league play.

A pair of strong starts were the key to ETSU’s victory. The Bucs opened the game on an 18-8 run and started the second have with a 19-3 surge. ETSU led by as many as 18 points in the second half before cruising to the victory.

The Spartans came into the contest as one of the top rebounding teams in the country, but the Bucs handled them on the boards. ETSU outrebounded UNCG 46-29 and converted 16 offensive rebounds into 22 second-chance points.

Junior guard Serrel Smith finished with a career-high 16 points while Ledarrius Brewer finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
