Early on the morning of January 28, Sebastian McGee woke up seeing fire and smelling smoke.
He woke up the rest of his family, resulting in five people getting out safely.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene at 5:23 a.m., responding to the structure fire with possible entrapment. All but one individual who resided at the residence was accounted for and one person was transported to the hospital.
“While the cause of the fire remains unknown, one thing we do know is that Sebastian McGee is a hero,” said Capt. Chris Stine.
The department presented Sebastian with a Certificate of Bravery, a special Challenge Coin from the Sheriff and patches from all the agencies that responded that evening during a special assembly at Gray School.
