The ETSU Martin Center for the Arts served as the venue for the Chamber of Commerce’s 106th virtual Annual Membership Meeting.
Jennifer Keller, Baker-Donelson, handed the gavel to Tammy Gorzka, KatzAmericas. Tammy Gorzka commented, “Starting the year with a virtual event of this magnitude, supported by the Chamber membership, showcases the overall support of the business community during this pandemic.”
The Chamber’s theme for 2021, “Re-engaging for Our Future,” highlights a desire to move forward.
Each year, a business leader is inducted into the coveted Chamber Hall of Fame. Dr. Larry Calhoun, Dean Emeritus of the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, was recognized for his contributions to the community, the university, and the Chamber.
Calhoun was President of Wilson Pharmacy and Home Health, CEO of Unicoi County Memorial Hospital, and Vice President at Mountain States Health Alliance. He served on numerous boards in the community, including United Way, Ronald McDonald House, and First Christian Church.
Larry was a stalwart board member of The Chamber of Commerce serving Johnson City-Jonesborough-Washington County, serving as Board Chair in 2013. Most notably, Calhoun was selected as the Founding Dean of the College of Pharmacy, heading up the regional approach to fund and create the College as one of the nation’s only privately funded Colleges of Pharmacy that resides in a state institution.
