The U.S. Olympic Training Site at ETSU joined up with sites around the world to celebrate Olympic Day last Friday morning.

The event gave local children the opportunity to try their hand at several sports, including track and field events, soccer, weightlifting, bicycle riding and paddle boarding. Youth from Coalition for Kids and the Johnson City Parks and Recreation summer camp program were among the hundreds of young people who poured out onto Sidney Smallwood Track and Steve Spurrier Field to participate in a morning of fun.

ETSU athletes, members of the school’s weightlifting club and Olympic hopefuls were on hand to provide instruction throughout the event, which ended at noon with a closing ceremony.
