Former ETSU standout and current Harlem Globetrotter A.J. “Money” Merriweather delighted the youngsters at the Boys & Girls Club of Johnson City/Washington County last week.

Merriweather took time to speak to the kids in attendance before participating in some basketball drills. The 6-foot-2 guard starred at ETSU, leading the Bucs to an NCAA Tournament appearance during his time in Johnson City.

The 24-year-old Tennessee native is known for his infectious personality and his high-flying highlight reel dunks. His opportunity to play for the Globetrotters came about when a video of his dunking ability caught fire on YouTube, which led to an invite to the NCAA Slam Dunk Contest in 2017.

From there, the Globetrotters drafted him later that year. After his visit to the Boys & Girls Club, Merriweather delighted the crowd at Freedom Hall, where he played in college, before taking off for the next stop on the Globetrotters’ world tour.
