A look back at 2018

For those of us at The Johnson City News & Neighbor, 2018 was certainly a year to remember.

On July 25, 2018, we printed our 1,000th edition, which came just over 21 years after our publication was established to serve the needs of local businesses by offering better market coverage at a reduced cost. Not long after The News & Neighbor was founded, we took on the mission of publishing the good news that takes place in Johnson City and Washington County, a mission that continues on to this day.

This past year our company and employees were honored with six top awards, including a pair of first-place honors, in a national newspaper competition. The awards were announced during a ceremony in Philadelphia in September. Competing against 600 entries from across the United States and Canada, The News & Neighbor also earned three second-place awards and one third-place award.

Every year brings changes to our industry, but community newspapers remain vital for those looking to stay up to date with the latest local news. Now, more than ever, good news needs to be shared wherever it can be found, and after two decades of telling the stories of everyday people in our community, we can tell you there is no shortage of good news to be found in Johnson City and Washington County.

Thank you for taking the time to read our newspaper each week, and here’s to a great 2019!
