April 9, 2017 – April 10, 2017The Jonesborough Repertory Theatre is holding open auditions for the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific on Sunday and Monday, April 9th and 10th, at 7:00pm at the theatre (125 W. Main Street, Jonesborough).
It is 1943 and the United States Navy has established several bases in the Solomon Islands in preparation for invasions in the Central Pacific. On one such island lives a French planter named Emile de Becque, whom the Navy wishes to employ as a scout to nearby Japanese held islands. To accomplish this task, de Becque is approached by a US Navy nurse named Nellie Forbush, and a complicated relationship is formed.
There are two roles portraying Polynesian children ages 9-12. Adult roles (portraying Americans and Polynesians) are ages 16 and up. The audition will consist of a cold reading, a choreographed dance, and group singing. If you’re interested in a principal role (adult or children), please come prepared to sing a 1-minute song of your choice.
Shows will be June 23rd-July 9th. For more information, contact jrtpublicity@gmail.com. -
