The inaugural Shop With a Cop Superhero 5K and Family Fun Run is set for Nov. 10, and this event is not to be missed by big or little caped crusaders! Your mission: to save the day for children in need. All proceeds from the race will go toward the Johnson City Police Department’s Shop With a Cop event, set for Dec. 13. Area children, selected from the Johnson City School System, are treated to dinner before a Police escort takes them to Walmart for a shopping spree. Each child’s family receives a food box, and if there are siblings in the home, they receive gifts as well.

Registration for the Shop With a Cop 5K and Family Fun Run is now under way at http://thegoosechase.org/shop-with-a-cop-5k/. Participants may register for the 5K event or the 1-mile Family Fun Run. Online registration will close at 9p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8. Early registrants (by Oct. 26) are guaranteed a T-shirt. Early registration for each event is $25 per entrant and $15 for participants 10 and under. Late registration (Nov. 9) is $30 per entrant and $20 for participants 10 and under.

Packet pick-up will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 7:30-8:30 a.m. near the start/finish line located on East Tennessee State University’s campus near The Quad, which is outside of Brooks Gym.
