    The Johnson City Parks and Recreation Department invites soccer coaches to volunteer for its youth league spring season. Candidates must be over 18, able to pass a background check, well organized, and knowledgeable of the sport. Practices begin March 17 and the 10-game schedule begins April 9. There will be a coaches meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 at the Winged Deer Park Athletic Office. To apply or for more information, call 423-283-5822.

    The Johnson City Board of Education will meet in a closed special session on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 4:00 p.m., in the Maple Room at the Central Office, 100 East Maple Street.  The purpose of the meeting is to review and/or revise School Safety Plans.  Under TCA section 49-6-804, this meeting is not subject to the Tennessee open meeting laws.

    Join Miss Jaden on Tuesdays at the Jonesborough Library for storytime! Children’s Storytime is an opportunity for children and their parents to come together for stories, songs, crafts and more. Reading and singing to young children promotes language and vocabulary development. Comprehension and cognitive skills are also enhanced.

    The Jonesborough Library offers toddler storytime for children 18-35 months on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. Sessions last about 20 minutes.  A preschool storytime for children 3-5 years of age is offered on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m.  Sessions last about 45 minutes.  Storytime dates and themes are as follows:

    Tuesday, March 13th – Luck

    Tuesday, March 20th – Eggs
