Science Hill trailed by as many as nine points before rallying to take the lead in the final minute and holding on for a thrilling 49-47 victory. Senior Alasia Smith put the Lady Hilltoppers ahead with a layup, and following a free throw by Erin Egerbrecht with 2.3 seconds left, Smith stole an inbounds pass to seal the victory.

Smith led the Lady Hilltoppers (28-7) with 18 points. With the victory, Science Hill was able to advance to the state tournament, where the Lady ‘Toppers are scheduled to play Stone Memorial in the quarterfinals on March 11. Saturday’s win was Science Hill’s 17th straight, a streak that coincidentally stretches back to a non-conference loss to Stone Memorial on Jan. 11.
