Last Thursday, the Johnson City Police Department and JCPD SWAG hosted their third-annual Shop With A Cop event.

The event started at Fairmont Elementary, where 61 children came to have dinner with an officer. The food was provided by the Chick-fil-A on West Market Street. After dinner, the officers and children were loaded into limousines, and they traveled to the Walmart on Browns Mill Road, where each child was given $150 with which to shop.

Over 65 officers from seven local agencies participated in the event. All told, 85 children were provided with Christmas morning presents. Also, 37 food boxes, which included a Christmas ham, were provided by SWAG.

In addition to the officers who participated, over 60 volunteers donated their time to make sure the event went smoothly.
