A handful of area high-school athletes signed scholarship papers last week to continue their playing careers in college.

Science Hill baseball standouts David Bryant and Brandon Feathers made the decision to stick together next season as the duo signed to play for Radford. Meanwhile, Science Hill cross country standout Gabrielle Mardis made her commitment to Milligan College.

On Friday, Daniel Boone’s Macie Culbertson signed on to continue her basketball career at Belmont while her teammate Sydney Pearce opted to go to Carson-Newman. Pearce, a 6-4 center, had the chance to play on the Division I level, but opted to go to Carson-Newman in order to pursue a career in nursing.

While Culbertson and Pearce were busy signing their papers at Boone, Sydney Fox and Reagan Miller were holding a signing ceremony of their own across the county at David Crockett High School. Like Bryant and Feathers, Fox and Miller chose to remain teammates next season by signing with Walters State’s softball program.
