Providence Academy made quite a splash on the opening day of the Food City Holiday Classic, besting tournament host Sullivan East 67-57. The Knights ultimately went 3-1 in the event and took home a runner-up trophy.

Coached by former Science Hill standout Damon Johnson, Providence employed a mix of pressure defense and hot shooting from the perimeter to pull off the opening-round win. Andrew Lawrence led the way for Providence with 19 points while Reid Stoltzfus added 13 and James Reese scored 10.

After rolling to a 21-point win over KACHEA on the second day, Providence scored another impressive win by beating Hampton 72-59 on Friday. Jayme Peay scored 22 for the Knights and Sam McAllister added 12.

The Knights hung with Dobyns-Bennett for a quarter on the final day before the Indians pulled away.
