Two weeks after leading Science Hill to a runner-up finish in the Class AAA State Wrestling Duals, Luke Story and William Diehl both won state championships at the Class AAA state individual meet last Saturday.

In the girls’ competition, Daniel Boone’s Isabella Badon won her third consecutive state title while Paige Snapp of David Crockett also won a championship.

Story, the top-ranked 138-pound wrestler in the state, knocked off Job Dooley of Franklin by a narrow 3-2 decision in the finals. Diehl, meanwhile, beat Clarksville Northwest’s Blake Spink 6-3 to earn the state title in the 160-pound division. Science Hill’s Arthur James brought home a silver medal.

Badon won her state title match by pinfall in the 119-pound class while Snapp also pinned her opponent to win gold. Science Hill’s Helaina Campbell-Ketron earned a silver medal in the girls’ competition, as did Crockett’s Taylor Roy.
