The Jonesborough Repertory Theatre is excited to share with its community 40 minutes of Christmas song and dance. This outdoor show will be at the International Storytelling Plaza on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m., and Saturday Dec. 12 at 2, 5 and 7 p.m. There will also be a collection bin for non-perishable foods for the Jonesborough Food Pantry.
The theatre’s actors, singers and dancers have missed performing for you, so they’re delighted for the chance to see you again and to bring you a bit of merriment and joy.
“We feel like this time of year—especially this year—people need to have their spirits lifted and be given some hope,” said Jennifer Ross-Bernhardt, JRT’s artistic director. “Music is designed to make us happier, and Christmas music goes even beyond that. This is a much-needed show for everyone.”
The singers and dancers will be performing both traditional and not-so-traditional songs including We Need a Little Christmas, Silent Night, All I Want for Christmas is You (with dancing toys!), a beautiful arrangement of White Christmas, The Christmas Song (sung by Sharon Squibb, in memory of her father Don Squibb), a surprise song at the end of the show, and many more.
“We also hope our show will bring some traffic to downtown Jonesborough,” Ross said, “maybe for some Christmas shopping and dining. And please don’t forget to donate a non-perishable item for the Food Pantry.”
Bundle up, wear your mask, and join us for some holiday cheer. You may bring a chair or just find a place to stand (please socially distance), and enjoy the JRT entertainment. May your hearts be warmed and your spirits lifted. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
A special thanks to the show’s sponsors, Wolfe Development and Law Offices of James R. Wheeler.
