Johnson City native Patrick Good gave his senior teammates and the 6,177 Buccaneer faithful a sendoff to remember on Saturday evening inside Freedom Hall.

Good knocked down five threes in the final 4:30 – including the game winner with 7.5 seconds remaining – to rally ETSU men’s basketball from a 10-point deficit, as the Bucs defeated Western Carolina, 68-67, to clinch the outright Southern Conference regular season championship.

Good and teammate Bo Hodges (3) take a victory lap around the floor after the final buzzer sounded following ETSU’s 68-67 win over Western Carolina.

Good scored 24 of his game-high 26 points in final 7:55, including 17 in the late surge down the stretch to complete the comeback win in the regular-season finale. The former David Crockett High School standout scored 24 of ETSU’s final 30 points.

The Catamounts had one last chance for the win, but Isaiah Tisdale blocked a three-point attempt and Good came away with the rebound. After Good did a victory lap with the ball secured in his left arm, he was tackled by his teammates and the dogpile celebration began before the Bucs cut down the nets inside Freedom Hall.

ETSU coach Steve Forbes celebrates with Bucky following the victory. The Bucs will begin play in the SoCon tournament on Saturday at noon.

The top-seeded Bucs finished the regular season with a 27-4 record and will begin play in the Southern Conference Tournament on Saturday at noon.
