Playing in front of the largest crowd for a Southern Conference game this season, the ETSU men’s basketball team fell 76-68 to rival Chattanooga Saturday afternoon inside Freedom Hall.
A crowd of 5,601 fans saw the Buccaneers drop to 16-10 overall, 9-4 in SoCon play, while the Mocs improved to 23-4, 12-2.
“Give credit to Chattanooga, they played with a sense of urgency tonight and looked like a championship team,” said ETSU head coach Steve Forbes. “We had a great crowd tonight and I wish we could have played better for them, but we as a team we have to get the crowd going.”
Senior guard Ge’Lawn Guyn led the Bucs with 24 points. Junior post Isaac Banks finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
ETSU bounced back with an 83-77 home win over Western Carolina Monday and is now 17-10, and 10-4 in conference play.
