Pepsico Beverages North America of Johnson City and the City of Johnson City are pleased to announce that the 35th. Annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration will return to the grounds of Freedom Hall Civic Center on Sunday, July 3.

A beloved community event, the Independence Day celebration was on hiatus for two years, but organizers are looking forward to an epic comeback for 2022.

“Pepsi has always viewed this event as a way to say ‘thank you’ to our community,” said Rex Henley, Pepisco sales operations manager. “We have big reason to celebrate this year and we will, in fact, be celebrating in a big way.”

The evening’s festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. with food service, craft booths, and children’s games. The first musical act of the night, Restless Road, will take the stage at 6 p.m., followed by Adam Doleac at 7 p.m., and Tim Dugger at 8:15 p.m. As always, fireworks will begin at 9:55 p.m.

New to the event this year will be a beer garden. Beverages will be sold in the Auxiliary Gym from 5-9:55 p.m. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited outside of the beer garden area.

This event is free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on the grounds of Freedom Hall and enjoy the festivities.

There will not be a rain date for this event. The fireworks time could be delayed if there is inclement weather that evening. Visitors may be moved inside the Freedom Hall arena temporarily in the event of severe weather.
