Fourth-grade students, parents and teachers have banded together to help one of their own.

The fourth graders at the elementary school worked with their families to raise $9,120 dollars in two weeks to honor the memory of the daughter of a fourth-grade teacher at Fairmont. Cheryl Conrad’s daughter Hailee passed away in December from medical complications. To memorialize Hailee, who was a sophomore at the University of Kentucky, a scholarship was established in her memory at the university.

After raising nearly $10,000, Fairmont fourth-graders and their families gathered together last Friday morning and presented the check to Cheryl Conrad. The funds will be sent to Lexington, where the scholarship will be established.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Hailee Jean Conrad Scholarship fund can do so at www.uk.crowdchange.co/1986.
