Category: General River Ministry Craft Fair & Open House

November 7, 2014

The River ministry, serving women and children in need for over 10 years, is holding its 5th annual Craft Fair and Open House during First Friday events on from 5-8 pm at the 125 West Main Street location. Local artists and crafters have donated pottery, quilts, stain glass, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, hand-sewn and knitted items, pillows, food items and so much more! This is a great time to start your Christmas shopping and all the proceeds go towards The River. In addition, the Joyful Noise River Choir will be releasing its CD called "Songs and Prayers" featuring old timey hymns and the prayers of Mary Woods. The choir will be singing several songs from the CD during the event and choir members will be on hand to provide tours of the facility. The River provides women in poverty both a safe place to meet basic needs on a daily basis and additional support programs that educate and empower women for independent living. Since 2004, The River has served over 1,000 women and children in need. Many are without support networks and are at severe risk of falling between the cracks into greater poverty, homelessness, and desperation. Through nonjudgmental support, respect, and love, The River brings hope to the women we serve and is a catalyst to transform the lives of women in East Tennessee.
