dsc_0001A special holiday event will take place at The Mall of Johnson Saturday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. with a special Christmas tree lighting. Planned as an annual event, the ceremony will take place in the Sears parking lot. Santa will also be arriving to take part in the festivities.

The Johnson City Christmas tree Norway Spruce stands 21 feet high with a 10 inch trunk and weighs approximately 6,000 pounds. Custom Gardens by Englewood Lawn & Landscapes were called to see if they could locate a large Christmas tree. It took a week but they found the special tree from a grower in Maryland. The grower has supplied Christmas trees throughout the country including the White House.

The huge tree required heavy equipment and a team of six men to unload and plant the Norway Spruce after its long trip from Maryland.
