Johnson City’s 9-10 All Stars from Johnson City’s American League scratched their way to an 8-6 victory over the Boone All Stars from Gray in a must-win sectional game Thursday night. The team, which had been put into the loser’s bracket by Boone earlier in the week, followed that up with a second straight victory against Boone, 7-6 on Friday.
A night after Austin Estes had taken the hill for JC American, Austin Denham started Friday’s game for Boone. Denham shackled Boone for four innings as JC American built a 7-0 lead. Boone scored six runs in the fifth and put a runner in scoring position with one out in the sixth, but Damian Mejia closed it out for a 7-6 JC American win.
