The United Way of Washington County announced last Thursday that the community had donated $1,554,759.27 to the 2017 “The Time is Now” Campaign.

That total came up just short of the $1.8 million goal, which was set significantly higher than previous goals.

“The volunteer campaign team and community have been very responsive in striving toward this higher goal,” President and CEO Jerome Julian said. “Simply put, our goal is to raise more money to fund more great works.”

While the organization announced its total, there is still a final push underway for the United Way to achieve its goal. People can still donate to the United Way by texting UWOWC to 40403, by making an online donation at www.uwowc.org or donating over the phone by calling 423.282.5682.

“We are grateful for the generous support of companies and individuals that have joined us in our work by donating to make a difference in our community, but there is still work to be done,” said Michael Estes, the 2017 Campaign Chair. “It is vital to us that we communicate to the public how important every donated dollar is to someone in need.”
