For the third consecutive year, two Johnson City American League teams squared off in the annual Little League City Championship.

By the end of the title game, the Smarty Pants had used their brains and brawn to claim the distinction of being the city’s best team with a 12-0 victory over the Appalachian Express.

Major Osbolt threw a no-hitter to earn the win in a contest that was shortened to four innings due to the mercy rule. Osbolt was two full-count walks shy of throwing a perfect game.

At the plate, the Smarty Pants offered Osbolt plenty of run support. They banged out 13 hits in just three innings to give Osbolt a massive cushion. The win culminated a dominant two-year stretch for the Smarty Pants, who posted a 43-3 record over the past two seasons.

The team includes Osbolt, Noah Davis, Austin Denham, Fletcher Counts, Gavin Poteat, Wesley Taylor, Parker “Goose” Mould, Tingen Hatcher, Corbin Harris, Anthony Margotta, and Sam Royston.
