Remember the reason for the season

Last weekend, Christians around the world celebrated the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While Christmas is a special celebration of faith, I know this time of year can be difficult for many. As we gather together with family and friends, it’s important to remember those who are less fortunate and may not have the same blessings as we do. I also say a special prayer each holiday for the men and women who are serving our country and cannot be with their families. These heroes make so many sacrifices to protect our freedoms – one of those being the very freedom that allows us to celebrate this special Christian holiday. I know other religions have celebrations this time of year also, and I hope their holiday season is filled with love and fellowship.

I wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Luke 2:10-14
