On June 18, 2011, the News & Neighbor published a story on how Josh Smith learned to play golf after his son Elijah got hooked on the game while taking part in the First Tee program at Pine Oaks Golf Course.
The June 20, 2009, edition of the News & Neighbor included news that one of Johnson Cityís trees had fallen over in the storm. Mike Hyder stands next to the oak, which many locals said was over 200 years old.
In June of 2012, Mark Sirois – with City Manager Pete Peterson – was named Johnson City Police Chief.
Johnson City Public Works employee Scotty Higgins (right) and Steve Collins of Summers-Taylor help complete work on the Tweetsie Trail in June, 2014. The trail opened to the public later that summer.
