Many local businesses and organizations took part in Giving Tuesday, which is observed on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The global generosity movement encourages people to reach out and help transform their communities through acts of kindness.

The students and staff at Jeremiah School marked the occasion by hosting an appreciation breakfast for first responders. The school served breakfast to local police officers, firefighters and EMTs.

Bank of Tennessee observed Giving Tuesday by focusing on a whole year worth of giving. CEO Dale Fair said his organization goes out of its way to embody the spirit of Giving Tuesday all through the year.

“I’m proud of our employees and their commitment to the communities we serve,” Fair said. “Each employee is encouraged to give back to their communities in whatever way they see fit.”

As of Dec. 1, Bank of Tennessee employees had donated over 1,200 hours of volunteer work collectively.
