Science Hill was down, but never out.

The Hilltoppers fell behind early on the road against rival Dobyns-Bennett last Friday, but the Hilltoppers roared back with 35 unanswered points to notch a 35-14 victory, their sixth consecutive win over the Indians.

After Science Hill fell behind by two touchdowns in front of a packed house at J. Fred Johnson Stadium, Jaylan Adams came through with three first-half touchdown runs to put the ‘Toppers ahead for good. The third TD was a 65-yard scamper with less than a minute in the second quarter that put Science Hill up 21-14. Adams finished with 253 total yards – 181 on the ground and 72 through the air.

Aundre Butler added a touchdown run in the third quarter and caught a TD pass from Adams in the fourth to cap the scoring. As a team, Science Hill finished with 367 rushing yards thanks in large part to its massive offensive line.

Defensively, senior linebacker Arthur James led the way with 13 tackles while Denzel Medina added eight.

Next up for Science Hill is a matchup against the undefeated Greene Devils of Greeneville. The Devils have outscored their first three opponents (Dobyns-Bennett, Morristown West and Union County) 135-42.

Science Hill and Greeneville haven’t played each other since 2012. The last time they faced off, the Hilltoppers won 49-21 behind a huge effort from quarterback Reed Hayes. Hayes finished with 387 yards of offense, 273 through the air and 114 on the ground. Will Adams added 104 rushing yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns to help the Hilltoppers finish with 559 yards of total offense.

Defensively, Science Hill forced Greeneville to commit four turnovers on Aug. 16, 2012 to secure the win.
