Three Pioneers and a Trailblazer earned spots on the Class 5A All-State football team last week. The team is selected by the Tennesseee Sports Writers Association.

David Crockett was represented by quarterback Cade Larkins, wide receiver Donta Hackler and offensive lineman J.R. Giles. Daniel Boone’s standout running back Charlie Cole was also honored with an all-state selection.

Larkins, a finalist for Class 5A Mr. Football, completed nearly 60 percent of his pass attempts. He threw for just under 4,000 yards and 42 touchdowns. Hackler was Larkins’ favorite target, hauling in 71 passes for 1,294 yards. He scored 19 touchdowns on the season.

Meanwhile, Giles was leading an offensive line that paved the way to Crockett’s first undefeated season in school history. The Pioneers won a pair of playoff games and finished 12-1 on the year.

Cole had another banner year for the Trailblazers, who finished 9-3 and notched a win in the playoffs. The junior ran for over 1,800 yards and scored 25 touchdowns.
