Jenny Brock was unanimously selected to become Johnson City’s 79th mayor during a meeting of the Johnson City Board of Commissioners last Thursday.

Brock, who previously served as the vice mayor, was nominated by fellow commissioner Joe Wise and received the votes of John Hunter, Dr. Todd Fowler and Dr. Larry Calhoun as well as her own vote.

“I’m just very honored to have been chosen mayor,” Brock said after the vote. “I’m ready to step into this role. I’ve been serving on this commission for five years, and before that, the school board, so it’s a great honor.”

Wise was selected as the vice mayor during Thursday’s meeting by a narrow 3-2 vote over Fowler. Hunter – who nominated Wise – cast a vote in his favor along with Brock, and Wise voted for himself. Fowler cast a vote in his favor and also received the support of Calhoun.
