Emily Sizemore and Bayleigh Carmichel knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to propel the Daniel Boone Lady Trailblazers to a five-point lead over Oak Ridge in Saturday’s sectional contest.

The rest, as they say, was history.

Boone’s girls knocked down all six of their free throw attempts in the closing seconds to lock up a 62-51 victory over the Lady Wildcats and secure the program’s first-ever trip to the Class AAA state tournament in Murfreesboro. The Lady ‘Blazers (30-4) will open up against undefeated Bradley Central on March 7.

Macie Culbertson scored 25 points to lead Boone. Carmichel added 12 points while Jaycie Jenkins and Sydney Perace scored 11 points apiece. Pearce had nine rebounds and blocked three shots while altering many other layup attempts.

Boone trailed by four points at halftime before Culbertson took over the game in the third quarter to pave the way to victory.
